Over the years, McCutcheon Enterprises, Inc. has recognized and acted upon the needs of our local community to provide a cost effective, high quality, easily accessible, non-hazardous waste transfer facility. This transfer facility, appropriately named the Discard Depot, was created for both professionals and the general public to provide a place to discard general household items that have seen better days. At the Discard Depot, people can get rid of everything from general trash to appliances and tires. Yes, at the Discard Depot, we can dispose of most household appliances including, washers, dryers, televisions, microwaves, refrigerators, freezers, and air conditioners. We even accept tires and batteries!! Accepting all of these different types of waste, keeps us committed to our operating theme that it takes only “One Stop to drop it all off.”  This theme not only saves our customers money, but also time. The Discard Depot was designed for customer efficiency and convenience.

The process of discarding your waste at the Discard Depot is simple. Drive to our headquarters on Park Road (near Northmoreland Park) and follow the signs for the Red Belt.  The Red Belt leads everybody to our state certified scale. Drive to the side of the scale and exit your vehicle. At this time you will proceed to the Call Box (which is clearly marked) next to the scale. Pushing the button on the Call Box connects you to one of MEI’s friendly, professional employees who will then provide you with instructions to the Discard Depot where you can then drop off all of your waste. Upon your completion of unloading the waste, you will proceed back to the scale to be weighed and once again use the Call Box to speak to one of our friendly, professional employees who will inform you to follow the Yellow Belt to MEI’s Dispatch center to pay for our services.

In the waste industry, there are many different classes and types of waste. It is important for you, the customer, to understand that at the Discard Depot, we are permitted to accept only non-hazardous, and universal wastes. For this reason, we ask that you call MEI for clarification of whether or not we will accept certain wastes.

According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), a universal waste can be designated into one of four categories. The first category is that of batteries. The second category is that of lamps. Lamps in this case, are referring to fluorescent bulbs or any bulbs containing certain chemicals as regulated by the DEP. Please call MEI for clarification of this category. The third category is pesticides. The fourth category of universal wastes is thermostats. Most thermostats contain mercury which is a hazardous substance, again please call MEI for clarification of items that will fit into this category.

MEI is also permitted to accept what is known in the waste industry as E scrap waste. E scrap waste is anything that contains a circuit board. Examples of an E scrap waste would include: computers, monitors, key boards, cell phones, PDA’s, printers, fax machines, etc.)
